It’s all black and white

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

I know many of our customers are absolutely crazy about black and white fabrics, so I just had to make a post to let you know that Moda’s line of black and white fabric has hit both the floor and e-store! These are gorgeous and fun fabrics. Half Moon is the name of the line and I have a feeling it will sell very well. I am already contemplating what I need to purchase for myself! I can already envision a blouse from the black paisley and a tote from the charm pack. So you had better hurry in to get your yardage!

For those of you who like the “Prest-O, Change-O” by Aby Quilts, just imagine this quilt using a black and white charm pack with red setting triangles and accents! Talk about making a quick quilt to die for! Actually, “Prest-O, Change-O” is just such a unique pattern. You don’t make setting triangles per se, it’s all a matter of how you lay out the squares and cut them. It really is magic!

Prom time

Friday, April 23rd, 2010

Our very own Miss Emma, who helps Donna in the Kit Room, is headed to her prom today. We are so proud of her because she made her own dress! As you can see from the photos, it is lovely and she looks stunning.

Our little girl is growing up!

And the winner is….

Our very own Darlene won numerous ribbons at the Tarheel Quilters’ Guild Quilt Show this past March. Her Odyssey Quilt, pictured here, won a First Place Blue Ribbon for Best Embellished Quilt.

If you’d like to also make this quilt, you can purchase an Odyssey Quilt Top Kit on our website. Click HERE for details on this kit.

Congratulations Darlene!

PJ Pillowcase Party

Girls Having Fun

By now I think the adults have recovered from Friday night’s Young Sewer PJ Pillowcase Party. The girls – of all ages – had a blast! The young sewers raised enough funds to purchase and sew 42 pillowcases that were donated to ConKerr Cancer at Duke Children’s Hospital and Health Center in Durham, NC.

The girls were so enthusiastic about sewing their pillowcases and then enjoyed a pizza party for their efforts!

THANK YOU to our Young Sewers and keep sewing!

Rural Jardin

Thursday, April 8th, 2010

We’re continuing with our French-themed fabric this week with the arrival of Rural Jardin by French General for Moda. This fabric has a gorgeous texture and feel to it, and it drapes so nicely. I’m already planning to make a cute summer skirt out of one of the fabrics and thinking about making some other things, too.

The solids blend so nicely with other fabrics, and it’s always good to add a wider fabric (some are 54″) to our collection for backings. Stop in and check these out!

Martinique

Martinique by 3 Sisters for Moda

It’s sounds so good, but I am not on the Caribbean Island of Martinique.  I’m referring to the Martinique line of fabric by 3 Sisters for Moda. It has literally just hit the floor!

The soft pastel colors do remind me of the Caribbean Sea and makes me think of the islands. Well, that and the fact that we are having a beautiful warm spring day here in Fayetteville – I guess that is what is putting me in an island frame of mind. But where is the beach and the cabana?!? Oh well, at least we can dream of an island vacation while looking at this Martinique fabric :-)
